Homeowner’s Insurance Limits On Valuables

May 4th, 2010 | by admin |

A homeowner’s insurance policy will provide some coverage for valuables such as jewelry, including a wedding ring, or watches. But this policy alone won’t cover much, it will generally only cover up to $1,000 for a combination of all valuables. A wedding or engagement ring alone will likely be more than this. These limits are placed on the policies for a reason, to persuade home owners to get additional insurance coverage for items that are hard to replace or valuable.

Additional coverage can be added to your policy or a separate policy can be purchased for these items. These types of items include boats, trailers, money, silverware and jewelry to name a few. If you think you have items that may fall into this situation check with your agent to be sure. You may need to get additional coverage, like engagement ring insurance, if you have valuable items that you want to be covered by insurance.

It is important to understand each homeowner’s policy is different so you need to know before you choose your policy what exactly it covers. If you’ve already purchased the coverage you may want to sit down with your agent and go over how specific items are covered.
