The arts education seminars of the 2009 project will feature workshops in acting, dance, musical theatre, and vocal training. Some performance venues will include the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, the South African Jewish Museum, Pollsmoor Maximum Security Prison, the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, and local churches and community centers throughout the townships. In expanding its audience and delivering its workshops directly to South African students, Thunk hopes to maximize its time spent in Cape Town and share its music with as many people as possible. The Cape Town Project will not only raise awareness and funds to help South Africans cope with the HIV/AIDS crisis, but will also inspire South African children to discover their limitless potential and express themselves through art.
