How do I stop a "thunking" noise in my recently installed kitchen faucet?
September 18th, 2009 | by admin |The noise occurs on two occasions: Whenever I turn the water on and when the water flow is increased suddenly; however, it does not occur when the water is turned off.
I did some research and it initially led me to believe that it was "water hammer" but the symptoms of that all seemed to occur when the water was shut off, which is not my problem.
Anyone have any suggestions?
hi from new zealand.
the prob may be caused by nulee installed metal pipe etc thats not restrained to wall studs or floor joists properly…..if hanging or floating loose when tap is turned of quik, water will impact and shudder thru loose pipes… the pipe should be mounted dead ridgid.

its called a flow restricting float in the faucet it thunks when you turn the water on slowing the flow down,
its a device some Idiot thinks we need to keep us from using too much water,
it,s like the 1.5 flush toilets , you have to flush them twice to get it to flush, there by using 3 gal of water again

Turn down your water pressure at water valve about half way . Do this by counting how many turns it takes to turn it off then turn back on half as many.
