Update as of 8:30pm, Sept 30th:
Just got word that Weebles (now known as Penny) was just picked up and is sleeping comfortably on the floor of the car on her way home. Whodda thunk it?
Update as of 2:30pm, Sept 30th:
Yippee!! Thanks to everyone for their concern! Someone has graciously decided to adopt Weebles and will be picking her up tonight at 6:30pm. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Daily updates available at: www.saveweebles.blogspot.com
Weebles is a four month old kitten currently living on a farm in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. She likely has a condition called cerebellar ataxia (also known as Wobbly Kitty). This is unconfirmed as she has never visited a vet. Weebles is a barn cat, and needs to work hard to survive. She has made it through the summer, but will not survive the winter due to her problems getting around and finding food for herself.
The decision has been made to put Weebles down on Saturday October 2, 2009.
However, there is a chance she can survive.
She has managed to keep herself fed through the summer, and the farmer has also helped her along by giving her food and water. The farmer loves animals and doesn’t want to put Weebles down, which is why it hasn’t been done yet. But she has no chance of surviving the winter so unless a new home is found she will be put down.
Weebles’ time is running out, but maybe you are just the person she’s looking for!
If you can help Weebles, please contact us at saveweebles@gmail.com

Hey. A friend of mine sent you an email yesterday inquiring if you had a home for Weebles. I told her that I would take her in. So we just have to come up with a plan for getting her to PEI. I see that there are people already willing to take her here, but just incase we are prepared to go get her.

Really anything is …
Really anything is possible. Weebles has never been to the vet, so there isn’t an official diagnosis. Where she is currently living the people don’t have the means to look after a high needs cat.

redranger,
I am in HFX and comign to PEI shortly, I woudl GO GET Weebles for you and deliver her safe and sound to you on Oct 9th. If it meant getting her before hand and keeping her at my house for a couple days, i think my small dog would understand. But if you think you could take this cat into your home, we could work together and i would deliver her to you.
Please let me know what you think.
best,
Brooke

is it possible this …
is it possible this cat is missing an ear drum? I had a friend when I was a teenager who had a cat with this condition. If you held on to cat’s tail, it would be able to find its center of balance and walk.

That’s just the …
That’s just the time that’s been chosen. Could have been Sept 2, could be Oct 15. If there aren’t any leads by Saturday there’s no point in delaying the inevitable.

I truly hope that some kind-hearted person will be able to adopt Weebles! 18 years ago my family adopted our cat on Oct. 2. I wish I could bring another pet into my home on that same date. Good luck and thanks for posting the video.
