The Souls – Justa Little Working Band from Texas 1965-1967. Recorded a 45 in 1966 called “Diamonds, Rats and Gum”. A single copy of the 45 sold on ebay in 2008 for $1225. Its been called “the rarest of the rare from the garage band era.” Sometimes music takes on a life of its own. In recent months, numerous interviews have been given to journalist in Switzerland, British Columbia, England and across the U.S. Several websites dedicated to preserving the music of “garage bands” from the mid 60’s have articles about the band. You can even buy the song as ringtones in Europe. Whodda Thunk? In the March 2010 issue of Texas Monthly Magazine is a feature article entitled “Three Chords and a Stationwagon – Secret History of Garage Rock.” There’s also a “rockumentary” about the Souls and interviews with a few band members at http://www.texasmonthly.com/multimedia..
